Jaguars sign WR Hughes, release TE Davis
Nov 19, 2008
The Jaguars signed receiver Nate Hughes to the practice squad on Wednesday and released tight end Charles Davis.
A former Alcorn State standout, Hughes originally signed in May with Cleveland as an undrafted free agent after catching 161 passes for 2,415 yards as a four-year starter for the Braves. Hughes also doubles as a return specialist and led his college conference in all-purpose yardage in 2007 with an average of 160.6 yards per game, but the Browns released him in June.
Hughes joined the practice squad of the Kansas City Chiefs last month, but was let go earlier in the first week of November.
